Joe Loehr
Joe Loehr is a partner in Loehr Dairy LLC, a century family farm in Mount Calvary, Wisconsin. He was recognized as Outstanding Young Brown Swiss Breeder and Distinguished Young Holstein Breeder, both in 2016. His management practices have yielded the distinction of being a BSA Genetic Honor Herd from 2012-2021, as well as winning the BSA Protein Genetic Honor Herd Award Group 2 for every year since 2016, the Progressive Genetic Herd Award from the Holstein Association annually since 2013, and the BSA Progressive Genetic Herd Award Group 2 in 2013 and 2018. Joe and his brother Mark and their team milk 550 cows including 40-50 Brown Swiss, maintaining a rolling herd average of 27,800 Holstein, 24,000 Brown Swiss. The Loehr brothers are both founding members of Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers and have hosted German dairy and veterinary apprentices and welcomed international guests to their farm. Joe has served as a delegate for AgSource, an advisory group member for Compeer Financial, and currently serves on the steering committee for Discovery Farms. He is a 4H dairy and swine project leader who coached his junior dairy judging team to the Wisconsin state championship. Joe and his wife, Gina, have six children and live in the “Holyland” region of southeastern Wisconsin, hence the herd prefix. He is a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoys hunting, coaching and playing basketball, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.
