​The following information is provided to make travel, especially international, as convenient as possible. The conference management staff is willing to provide information whenever possible. However, please note the following:

• Invitation and participation letters cannot be issued to potential attendees until registration and full payment are made.

• Conference organizers are unable to send invitation letters directly to consulates on behalf of a potential attendee. Invitation letters are prepared solely for individuals and are emailed directly to them.

• It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure documentation is correct and completed in a timely manner before you start your journey. It is recommended that application for a visa be made at least 10 weeks prior to the proposed travel dates.

• People visiting from Canada and from non-U.S. countries are required to have a valid passport and possibly other documentation. Contact your nearest embassy or consulate with any questions or concerns regarding your travel requirements.

Visa Requirements

To assist with travel documentation, World Dairy Expo will gladly write an official letter of invitation. In many cases this type of letter is required to obtain a temporary travel VISA to the United States. The VISA Letter Request Form is available here.
 

Airline Reservation Assistance

The airport providing service is Dane County Regional Airport (MSN), approximately a 20-minute drive from downtown Madison. The hotel offers a complimentary airport shuttle to and from their property.

 

Other surrounding airports include General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) in Milwaukee, located about 1.5 hours from Madison and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in Chicago, located about 2.5 hours from Madison. Both airports offer bus services to and from Madison:

Taxi cabs, Uber, and Lyft are available for pick-up and drop-off all around Madison and at the airport.

Madison, Wisconsin

Madison is one of only two U.S. cities built on an isthmus. Nestled between lakes Mendota and Monona, Madison is renowned for its beautiful, four-season scenery. The State Capitol building is the city’s signature landmark. No building in Madison can rise higher than the 284-foot granite dome, which is modeled after our nation’s capitol. State Street, a mile-long pedestrian mall, links the Capitol Square to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and offers shopping, museums, theaters, restaurants and lounges. Madison is in the U.S. Central Time Zone, which is one hour behind the Eastern Time Zone Standard Time, one hour ahead of Mountain Time, and two hours ahead of Pacific Time.

Weather

The average daily temperature in Madison is high 60 degrees Fahrenheit in October with lows in the high 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep in mind, however, that no matter what the weather may be outside, meeting rooms at the convention center may be cool, so please plan accordingly.
